I would have to say that this has been an unpresidented sucsess, Mr Middleton comes up with this ridiculus name and every newspaper and travel site is talking about the pointlessness of it and how presto thousands of free advertising - very clever, i can come up with a better name that would fit 'BRITAINS HISTORICAL WATERLAND'have that one for free Simon

It's also on Orange travel

I guess if you beleive there is no such thing as bad publicity you should be glad, maybe...

Some of the comments further down the page are interesting. LOL

I can't help thinking Gary is right on this - any publicity is good publicity ....

Not sure that B.P. would agree with that one!

The Broads is The Broads, it is NOT a National Park. Parliament says so!! And so does DEFRA & the Ordnance Survey!!

It's worth having a read through the Orange Travel link posted by Bill, as Mr. Middleton has posted in response to his critics.  He is at pains to point out that the "Magical Waterland" phrase is merely a tagline to the existing name (as in "The Norfolk Broads - Britain's Magical Waterland",) and NOT an attempt to replace "The Broads" name as such.

However, the very fact that it's been misunderstood/taken out of context before it's even been launched surely doesn't bode well for an advertsising/rebranding campaign?

It seems that one of the most edifying consequences of this excercise is that Simon Middleton has been publicly rebranded as Alan Partridge.

Not the clever comedic satire.

Just the Joke.
