Well you will have no trouble from me. I will be
hugging the bank like nobodies business!

Just a query though on how the speedlimit applys to safety boats.
On a few ocassions (please note a few, not all) I have seen the
safety boats plough up and down well in excess of the the speed
limit. Someones  just to tell motor boats to hug the bank
and other times it appears to be just because
they can! Should they be doing this?

Safety boats, as powered vessels, should obey the speed limits unless they are involved in a safety-related incident. They should not be speeding for the sake of it!

Sailing vessels are not required to obey speed limits and may end up overtaking motor cruisers doing the speed limit on a windy day. Most of the time we're nowhere near these limits though.

JM, I am not disagreeing with you and I would say that the vast majority of yacht folk think and act like you e.g. responsibly.
I do understand the competitiveness of sailing events. I actually work with a two times word champion in his class, a person who has sailed for England, someone who club events with a 1920’s Sunbeam the list goes on, in fact I am the only person there with a stinky. However all but one of my co-workers race in the sea where there is a lot more room, perhaps things get more intense in the confined waters of the rivers.

Regards.

Without me trawing through the Green Book, could you please tell me roughly what the start and finish times are please.

I would like to go to Wroxham on Sunday and return Tuesday but dont mind an early / late start to miss the races.

As most will tell you I do enjoy photographing the racing but the three days this time I hope to be coming and going past Horning without stopping.

Tks

Then I suppose me and the safety boats must have had a different
opinon of a safety incident!

I hope you have a lovely week and I hope people dont forget that
without people volunteering their spare time events like this would
not happen at all.

If Norfolk/Suffolk inches are anything like their miles then you need to start worrying, those yachty types could end up anywhere.

Norfolk miles elastic!  The saying 'how long is a piece of string' was invented just for Norfolk miles!

The first boats on the water are dinghies from about 9:15. The river will get really busy from about 10:15 onwards. Racing ends at about 6 each evening. Its often quiet around 12:30 ish if you're after coming through in the middle of the day and want to avoid most of the racing fleets.

Hope this helps
