Cheap and woodie are not words to mix The first line of the sales blurb says it all....
quote:"...... This once beautiful 5 berth Broads Cruiser was bought with a view to restoring her to her former glory. ......." A partial resto, where funds have run out. Offer him 2k (subject to survey - and I hate to think what could be revealed by that!) and expect to fork out lots more. Alternatively, go and stand under a cold shower ripping up £50 notes - less fun, but cheaper in the long run

John what a thing to say the old girl might be listening, boats have feelings you know especially wooden ones. Having said that I will now say sotto voce you are of course quite right nonetheless maybe worth a punt under your conditions.

Anyone with a serious interest in this project may like to pm me for a little more background. I know a little of her history. Couldn't help noticing the dreadful looking state of that lovely Lister Freedom FR4.

quote:"...... the old girl might be listening, boats have feelings you know especially wooden ones. ......." I know, I know! One comment (in the heat of the moment whilst on our beam ends) about being a pig upwind in a gale with 3 reefs and 2 'soft' spots "needing attention in the next year" suddenly run rampant and lead to a complete replanking ExP, Stop right there! I know SWMBO said anything else added to the fleet has to have an ...... an...... (sorry I will manage to get it out in a minute!)... an engine but another woodie was expressly forbidden. Something about cost, can't think where she got the idea that wooden boats are expensive

I do eventuallylearn from experience, JM. Methinks I'd be looking for somewhere else to live if ever I considered buying "Gay Pirate." She's not in the frame - honest (Gay Pirate that is not SWMBO)

Very funny posts, especially An Engine bit LOL. John you are in danger of developing the breaking strain of a soggy KitKat. Griff

The breaking strain of a soggy KitKat! I resemble that remark, sir As an ossifer and a gentleman (well by tradition actually not one of those, but you get my drift ) you know full well that I waft as gently as a blade of grass in the wind and with a will about as strong! Fortunately for me, SWMBO (as a Blue Ringed Wren) provides all the backbone and strength of will a chap might require! John BITTERN 65 Edit to point out to the animal welfare types that, no I am not forcing unnatural attentions on a small, winged feathered creature Angel she may be, bird she aint! (OMG I really hope she can't remember her login!)
