Hope so!

quote:"...... “The quay to Beccles is what the seafront is to Lowestoft. If it's kept scruffy and unkempt those who use it paying £1,000 a week for a boat are not going to be impressed.” ......." Blimey £1000 a WEEK I'm surprised any boats are there at all, there must be some well heeled boaters in Beccles!! Griff

That would leave Cowes Marina in the shade... (I think he meant hire boat rates)

We happen to like Beccles and the money would be well spent on new quay headings and raising the grassed area and pathway! Spending money on a band stand whilst the grass area will still flood several times a year seems to me to be a no-brainer. Besides, I wouldn't want to be moored there and have my ears assaulted by a brass band or someone elses idea of music! I want to be able to choose what I listen to and when!
You only get one body, please it as often as you can! I do.... Morgage free and afloat at last too!

I suspect that the £1000/week is the ballpark figure for holiday hirers. I think that a working bandstand would be an asset, as the one at Oulton Broad, playing a mixture of popular and more ambitious renditions by local and visiting bands, often has over a hundred people sitting round it in the summer, and it might also bring other facilities, like a kiosk to get teas and the like. and if nothing else, it would give everyone somewhere to stand when the grass is flooded

Just out of curiosity does anyone know exactly how much these moorings between the posts work out annually please. M
