A word of thanks and praise to the good people here. I pulled in at the weekend for some petrol and because the engine wasn't charging. They found the problem was a broken wire to the outboard, fixed it for me and refused payment. Bless them!

Petential, sorry that you have not had any reply's to your thread. Had it this happenend in certain boatyards in the northern rivers there would have been lots of replies saying what a wonderful job they done. There is some good at WRC after all. Malcolm

Malcolm, There is a lot of good at the WRC. Some very good people, a good boatshed where Steve and team do some very good moulding and repair work, some nice scenery, when it hasn't been pruned too hard. A very nice pub with a lovely family that run it. On the subject of Northern boatyards, forgive me, but when we met at Yarmouth recently, weren't you just on your way back from having a service at a Northern boatyard? Seriously, some good people at the WRC, been a busy year what with the lift out and a new kitchen at home, but must get round to popping back in again.

Malcolm, The smilies were there to try and indicate that I was pulling your leg. I guess the amount of private moorings at Stalham tends to lead to a lot of private work going to Northern boatyards and therefore they get more recomendations, plus to be honest I tend to think of the WRC as more of a glass fibre repair centre, than a mechanical servicing type location. As I said there are some good people there.

Keith, you are adding things to this discussion what were not originaly there. I can see the implications of another broads company being pulled apart and do not wish to get involved in any part of this. I finish here. Malcolm

Actually I don't give up. The point I was trying to make is that if I was after GRP work on my boat, then the WRC is in the list of candidates I might consider. If I was after engineering type work, the WRC is not one that would naturally spring to mind, because I associate it more as a bodyshop. Probably helped by the fact that I know the new Ferry fleet is moulded at the WRC and fitted out at Ferry Horning. I also guess that Petential didn't get many replies to this thread, because when positive reviews such as this are posted, people will often reply with, that's why we always use these guys, or they always do a good job for us etc. I am guessing that the majority of private boat owners on here are based on the North and therefore use Northern based yards, therefore there are less kindred spirits to join in and praise the WRC for the work they have had done on their boat. Petential, it is always good to see positive feedback, just because not many reply, does not mean the message hasn't been read or understood. I will repeat once again, there are some good guys at the WRC who do some very good work. You only have to look at the quality of the new Ferry fleet to appreciate that. Finally Malcolm, I don't know what your problem is, but if you look at the second post on this thread, your first, the last sentence, it is you that added things to this discussion that didn't need to be there.

Didn't mean to spark a North/south rift but grateful for some response so thank you. Helpful and good people around boats deserve some recognition and I think it is part of the forum's perpuse to do offer that and help ourselves and the businesses involved. No more, no less. Will it stir up more controversy if I say that I find the upper strech of the Waveney as lovely a part of the Broads as any. Peter

Hi Petential, Not in the least. In my experience the upper reaches of most of the rivers are better than the lower reeaches. Wroxham to Coltishall, Above Potter bridge, but in particuler the stretch above Beccles old bridge and the bonus is The Locks Inn at the end.
