Interesting you say that, I've thought the same thing, but I've no idea why as yet.

Personnally I think the forum is running to the same speed or better than it was before BT stepped in. And no, I have no "backdoor" entry to the forum. Well not when viewing the forum.

I have just tried analysing packets to see why page loading may be jerky or slow. It isn't really bad here, but I am an impatient so and so. When I call up a page, the background and the heading flash up on the screen. The main content(user posts) displays after quite a time delay. Looking at the packets showed that the avatars caused delays on some pages. Some Forum Members have avatars less than 3KB in size, while others are about 50KB(there may be larger, I haven't checked). 50K doesn't sound big, does it? In my particular case, I have set my preference to have 30 posts per page, saves messing with a lot of pages. If all 30 posts had 50K avatars, we would have to download 1500Kb of avatar. One ethernet packet will typically handle about 1472 bytes(depending on MTU of network). This would require around 1020 packets to download. Add to this download of text and adverts. I am going to try changing to 10 posts per page for a week and see if that improves things. I hope my arithmetic is correct! At my age, mistakes happen!
