Maybe? I am going on my first broads holiday soon with my family (complete novices, wish me luck ), I can't tell you how much i am looking forward to it. We are taking a weeks cruise from Stalham. The only thing the wife wants to do is a decent market. Can any one tell me of some decent markets and what days they are on, so i can at least try and aim for one during the week. did i say how much i am looking forward to this...

I dont know of a "true" market but Stalham does have a car boat sale - on a Tuesday I think but could be wrong about the day. Wroxham is about the nearest to a market that I know of. If you go as far as Yarmouth then there certainly is one there. Good luck and welcome to the Forum. Most questions can be answered here - except maybe this one !

Thanks for the replys, someone in work mentioned one in Acle as well.. I'm not sure what we are doing route wise, which to be honest is probably the best bit of the holiday for me.. just hoping to point the boat and see where it takes me.

Norwich has a fantastic market, but I'd drive there from Stalham, the boat trip would dominate your holiday and you'd feel a bit 'pushed'...not what it is all about.

I thought the Acle one was somewhere near the station so a long way away from the river but no doubt someone will put me right if I am wrong.

Acle Market is on a Thursday. From Acle Bridge, walk to Acle (about a mile). At first major right turn (opposite The Hermitage), turn right. Follow road round to left and you will be in the centre of Acle. Walk past the banks/chinese/Post Office and round the sharp right. Past Budgens and the market is on the left. Probably takes about 1/2 hour to walk.

We visited Acle Market during our last visit in May. We had a pleasant walk along the footpath from the river into Acle - nice that it's set back from the road. However, be warned, we arrived at the market shortly after midday to find it already closing down.

You can get a bus into Norwich reasonably quickly from Wroxham, Salhouse (if you dont mind a walk up to the village) Ludham Village by the Church, Ludham Bridge and Horning if you walk up to the main road. regards Danny
